How to get to the Hollywood Sign
The letters stand on Mount Lee in Griffith Park, and visitors cannot drive or walk to them. Getting there means going to a viewpoint or a trailhead. The Metro and DASH stops below are close to the viewpoints, not to the sign itself.
If you prefer not to organize transport, Hollywood Sign tours collect the stops into one trip. Otherwise plan by what you want: a quick look from the Boulevard, a view from the Observatory or a hike. Viewing costs $0 in all cases.

Metro and DASH in Hollywood
Fares and stops.
Metro fares
One ride costs $1.75, and transfers are free within 2 hours, but a return trip is not included. With tap payment the daily cap is $5 and the 7-day cap is $18. Children under 6 ride free with a paying adult. Cash works only on the bus and does not count toward fare capping.
How to pay
Metro now accepts a contactless credit or debit card and a phone wallet, so a physical TAP card is no longer required.
B Line stations
Hollywood/Highland serves the western Boulevard and Ovation Hollywood. Hollywood/Vine serves the eastern part. Vermont/Sunset is the transfer point for the Observatory DASH. Our viewpoints guide explains what you see from each.
Two different DASH lines
The Hollywood DASH is a neighborhood line, with about 30 minutes between buses on weekdays. It does not run on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Do not mix it up with the Observatory DASH, which runs every day.
Observatory bus times โFrom LAX to Hollywood
The FlyAway bus and the Metro.
The FlyAway currently serves Union Station and Van Nuys. Board at LAX on the Arrivals or Lower Level, at the blue FlyAway signs. There is no direct FlyAway to Hollywood, so from Union Station you take a Metro ride on.
A ticket costs $12.75 one way. Up to 2 children under 5 ride free per paying adult. There is no reservation, seats go to those who arrive first, and you pay by contactless Visa or Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay on the bus, with no cash. The estimated ride is 30 to 60 minutes to Union Station and 40 to 80 minutes to Van Nuys, depending on traffic.

Parking and trailheads by car
Where you may leave the car.
Brush Canyon
The trailhead is at 3200 Canyon Drive, with parking areas. Canyon Drive is not Canyon Lake Drive, which is the address of Lake Hollywood Park.
Wonder View
There is no parking at the trailhead or on upper Wonder View Drive. Hikers walk in from Lake Hollywood Drive. Follow the street signs and do not count on a free space.
Lake Hollywood streets
Preferential Parking District 320 was extended in 2025. Resident exemptions and time-limited bans apply, so do not count on free street parking. Respect the residents.
Beachwood Drive
The public trail entrance at the top has been closed by court order since April 2017. A riding stable nearby is a private business, and its guest parking is not hiker parking. Do not leave valuables visible in the car.
Griffith Observatory parking and the free option near the Greek Theatre are covered in the Observatory guide. Trail routes are in the hike guide.
